Apple Announced The iPhone 14, The Mini Drops, And Added The Plus

Apple has renewed its line of mobiles with the iPhone 14 series, made up of two mobiles. This time, the small mobile phone, the iPhone 14 Mini, falls out of the equation, and in its place comes the larger iPhone 14 Plus.

They are the cheapest models of the four that it has presented in total, having the same appearance and hardware as always, with some changes.

The iPhone 14 has a size of 146.7 mm × 71.5 mm × 7.8 mm and weighs 172 g, one of the smallest high-end ones out there. Its screen is 15.5 cm (6.1 in) of the OLED type with a resolution of 2532 × 1170 pixels, reproducing in HDR Vision format with up to 1200 nits of maximum brightness.

The iPhone 14 Plus has a size of 160.8mm × 78.1mm × 7.8mm, weighing 203g. Its screen becomes 17.0 cm (6.7 in) with a resolution of 2778 × 1284 pixels. Along with the larger battery size, those three are all the differences.

The rest of the components are common. The processor is an A15 Bionic with 5 GPU cores, the one used in the iPhone 13 Pro, instead of the A15 Bionic with 5 GPU cores. It slightly increases the battery size, indicating that it lasts up to 20 hours of playback instead of the 19 hours of the iPhone 13, for the 26 hours of the iPhone 14 Plus.

They have 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB of storage, 802.11ax Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G (sub-6 and mm-wave), and the usual completely obsolete Lightning connector. One change is including a satellite communications system that will be useful for making emergency calls.

There is a very important change in the US because the iPhone 14 uses only one or two eSIMs, so to use them, you will have to request the usual QR code from the operator to provision the line. In the rest of the world, they continue to use nano-SIM and eSIM. At least this year, because the change in the US may mark the future of Apple mobile phones in the coming years.

The rear camera system remains almost the same. The two sensors are 12 Mpx, one ƒ/1.5 and the other ƒ/2.4, with an ultra-wide angle of 120º. It has an optical image stabilizer, double magnification optical zoom, and records video at 4K and 60 f/s or slow motion at FHD and 240 f/s. They substantially improve low-light shooting. The front camera is 12 Mpx and ƒ/1.9, recording video at 4K and 60 f/s, and has autofocus.

The iPhone 14 starts at 1,009 euros or 799 dollars, a large price increase in euros due to the euro-dollar difference compared to the iPhone 13 —it maintains the price in dollars— while the iPhone 14 Plus starts at 1,159 euros or $899.
